Tristram Coffin grew up, first, in Santa Barbara, California and then hopped around the Southeast after graduating from SCAD in Savannah. Then, well... off to Atlanta. Punk Rock, skateboarding, wine, high-end cuisine, genealogy and composing music arguably influence how he sees the world. Once he observed and acknowledged—I'm certain he was grumpy at the time—an obsession with mistakes in typesetting on signs he was observing everywhere; EVERYWHERE! I believe he managed to turn this visual addiction into a right proper interaction with a camera (plus and iPhone), thus allowing him to capture—very selfishly—many of the things in life that he found just out-of-place enough to warrant a click. Twenty-plus years as an art director/creative director and graphic designer has earned Tristram a seasoned and unique perspective on space (no, not the Jet Propulsion Laboratory), composition, craftsmanship and concept. Along with creativity, these are the tools of the advertising trade. However, there often exists a sometimes deep conflict beneath the surface—for many of us advertising folks—serving to fuel a career-long compulsion to not be "creative on demand" and not having focus on brands and logos and messaging. Some of us literally burn out and some even fade away. Tristram refers to his particular situation as after-burn™. His after-burning is constant and almost always therapeutic. He is likely breathing deep right now.
