Michael Orme lived in several cities in Europe and America before settling in New York City.
Michael derives his inspiration from nature and the vibrant New York City life. He is influenced by Asian art, impressionism, and fauvism, as well as raw, primitive and modern art.
In many of his paintings, Michael tries to distill the essence of his subjects without losing at the core the subject matter - which tends to have an eye-catching quality in their construct. Instead of merely recording factually what he sees, Michael translates his scenes into a light-filled expression of his own. His absolute abstracts display multi-layered bold colors and almost always incorporate some subtle organic elements in the background.
Currently Michael works from his studio in Manhattan.
