My name is Meredith Hanson and I just graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, MA as a Studio Art major and an Art History minor. Art has been my passion ever since I was very young and it will always be a very important part of my life.
I have experimented with various mediums over the years such as charcoal, watercolor, pastel, and oil paints. Before I was accepted to Wheaton I spent several years working with pastels and focused primarily on still lifes and eventually moved on to landscapes. I loved working with pastels but felt that I should definitely try using oil paints. My freshman year of college I was the only freshman to be accepted into one of the painting classes offered during the spring semester. I was surrounded by juniors and seniors but this only encouraged me to work that much harder as I was completely dedicated to my work.
After my Sophomore year I was accepted to go to an intensive art program abroad in Ballyvaugh, Ireland with my school in 2009. I brought my pastels with me and discovered so much about my style and independence as an artist that summer. I was very fortunate to have been accepted into this program at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaugh, as the knowledge I acquired from the program and about myself truly helped my confidence as a working artist.
I have continued using oils and have completed various commission paintings as well this summer. In the fall I will be moving to New York City to begin working with Interior Designer, Maria Brito.
