Born in 1985 to the black sheep of an Irish Catholic family, Megan Elyse Cain was raised Buddhist under the foothills of Boulder, Colorado. Since graduating from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in photography in 2008, Elyse has been working as a freelance photographer and sometimes writer in NYC.
"My work is driven by an interest in the power of a photograph to encapsulate the ephemeral. I am especially interested in the alchemy that exists between photographer and camera - the transformation between what the eye intends and the film interprets. Furthermore my work seeks to explore the photograph as an etching of an experience, and what happens when an otherwise ordinary moment is seen through the conventions of documentary photography. "
