“If our life is poured out in useless words, we will never hear anything, never become anything, and in the end, because we have said everything before we had anything to say, we shall be left speechless at the moment of our greatest decision.” ― Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude. My work is always in consideration of the context of the world in which we inhabit, of the psychological spaces I am sensitive too. With all the delicate intricacies and poetry flowing from the world-I see photography as a language to discuss and contemplate these amorphous wonders. To give them shape, just as I find in the words of Rilke, Eliot, Nietzsche, Baudelaire, Kierkegaard, Heidegger, Doestoevsky, Thomas Merton, Don Delillo, and David Foster Wallace-And then, to return them to the keeping of the indefinable and to somehow illuminate a corner of the sublime. I find photography to be the most meaningful way I can speak about the world swirling around us-To tell my small part in this story we are all in. Photography for me, the whole hairy beast, is a spiritual endeavor by nature. I am always seeking to know more about it and find more ways to speak within its boundaries. Photography for me is much like poetry-An art of memory. "Hardening of the categories causes art disease"-W. Eugene Smith
