Seftel, British-American. born London,1974.NYC based.
Art has always been a path and journey of spiritual exploration, healing and enlightenment for me, my works having a metaphysical and organic quality, being time and timelesness, form and formlessness.
Travel has been one of my greatest inspirations, living and experiencing life everyday as a new adventure. I've lived in caves in the desert, yurts in the mountains and hammocks by the ocean for months at a time, for inspiration, spiritual study and conscious creative growth.
I've always been interested in colour, and the beauty of its transformative nature, origin and force. Ive gathered stones, sands, earth, and rock hounded at mineral mines to find and use gemstone, colour and geology within my work. My focus has been on the true nature of light its effect upon the surface, and the substance, quality and orgin of light as it is illuminated from within the dark layers of the world and ourselves.
I've known i was an artist since i was 4 years old, and was first thrown out of school for drawing a lewd picture. My art education was inspired by a two good school teachers, but formally, went downhill early on. So, independent and self taught, I'm thankful to have picked up many good tips from masters along the way. Art is about Origin to me, and I have always been intrigued and passionate about 'finding', and my answers have been within the Great Mysteries, hidden secrets, ancient peoples, spiritual sciences, and primitive and advanced technologies.
i see my work as artifacts, textural timescapes that reveal our Collective Consciousness, and are charged with the role of awakening what is dormant and asleep in ourselves, the mediums embodying a message, that is revealed through the minds eye, and eyes of the soul and the utterly amazing sensation of seeing.
