REAL WOMENThe series of Real Women nudes was born out Morrison's frustration with the way that women were perceived in glossy magazines. With the advent of digital photography and Photoshop it seemed that every face became both line less and life less. His portraits, over the years, were shaped from his love of real faces, showing the beauty but not hiding the flaws. Pictures where you can explore the soul and character of the sitter.
At the time that the series began to take shape Helmut Newton's Big Pictures were beginning to get much praise and attention at international auction houses. Considered to be some of the great classic nude photographs of this century, the models, were chosen by Helmut Newton and his wife, Alice Springs, particularly for their amazonian, statuesque appearances. Beautiful but flawless faces and bodies.
Morrison's series of Nudes in the Real Women Collection depicts women who have simply answered a request on a web site for them to participate. All that was required was that they brought high heeled shoes with them, a direct reference to the way that Helmut Newton 'dressed' his models. Each participant is very different. Each has tremendous beauty. They are all Real Women.
Morrison is still completing the Collection. The six portraits on display are making their debut showing at this exhibition. If you would like to consider taking part then you can apply by writing to morrison@alistairmorrison.com giving your age (over 18 please), address and contact details, and reasons that you wish to take part.
